Introduction
Unless more detail is relevant or helpful, just stick to the country name when explaining where organisations are located.
Use the US spelling for both US organisations and other organisations whose official translation of their name is in US English. If there is no approved translation, we agree on one.
For a foreign organisation, use its original acronym rather than generate an acronym based on the English translation. When required, you can use Google Translate to translate organisation names.
For companies, avoid using the part of their name that refers to the type of business entity they are (such as plc, ltd, corp) as this is normally irrelevant. So we use Google rather than Google Inc.
Use Médecins Sans Frontières not Doctors Without Borders.
Use Islamic State (ISIS).
