BMRCL reviews Yellow Line metro trainsets schedule, final timeline expected soon

The Bangalore Metro Rail CorporationLtd (BMRCL) is reviewing the trainset schedule for the Yellow Line that connects RV Road to Bommasandra.

Discussing the progress of the trainset deliveries, Maheshwar Rao M, Managing Director of BMRCL, told businessline, “The trainsets for the Yellow Line are anticipated to be dispatched by the end of the year.” He added, “Towards the end of this month, we should be able to finalise what is going to be exactly in this schedule.”

He further stated that one trainset is already ready, with two additional trainsets expected by the end of January 2025. Subsequently, deliveries are planned to arrive in batches of two trainsets at a time, he added.

The 19.15-km Yellow Line is scheduled to become operational in late January 2025. With an investment of ₹5,745 crore, the Yellow Line will connect key locations, including Jayadeva Hospital, BTM Layout, Silk Board Junction, and Electronics City.

The first trainsets are being supplied by Kolkata-based Titagarh Rail Systems Ltd (TRSL).

Recently, BMRCL signed an MoU with Delta Electronics India Pvt. Ltd. for the construction of the Bommasandra Metro Station.

Additionally, pharma major Biocon and Infosys have committed to funding the construction of the Biocon Hebbagodi and Infosys metro stations, respectively, on the Yellow Line. Each company will contribute ₹100 crore (approximately $12 million) towards the project.
