iOS 19 Compatible Devices List Reportedly Leaked

iOS 19 and iPadOS 19 are still months away, but a new report from iPhoneSoft gives us an early glimpse at what we can expect in terms of device compatibility.

According to the report, all iPhones currently running iOS 18 will also be able to upgrade to iOS 19. This means devices as old as the iPhone XS and XR, which were first launched in 2018, will continue to receive Apple’s latest software. While some advanced features may be limited to newer models, this extended support is great news for users holding onto older iPhones.

For iPads though, the story is slightly different. The A10-powered iPad (7th generation, released in 2019) will reportedly not be supporting iPadOS 19. With this change, the minimum processor requirement for iPadOS will rise to the A12 chip, meaning most iPads will still get the update, but older models are being phased out.

iOS 19 and iPadOS 19 are expected to be previewed at Apple’s WWDC in June 2025, with a public release slated for September 2025. While details about new features remain sparse, rumors suggest iOS 19 might be a smaller update compared to iOS 18. Prolonged work on features promised for iOS 18, such as Priority Notifications, App Intents for in-app actions, and Siri enhancements, may have delayed development.

If upcoming features heavily rely on Apple Intelligence, newer devices may be required to fully experience them, despite broader compatibility.

For now, users can enjoy the promise of another year of updates for most devices, while we wait to see what Apple has in store for iOS 19.
