OnePlus didn’t launch a new foldable in 2024, and it was sorely missed. However, a new leak from SmartPrix has shared renders of the Open 2 and shown some improvements they expect to see.
The render reveals that the Open 2 will have the same design as its predecessor, with a massive round rear camera module housing a 50-megapixel primary shooter, a 50-megapixel ultrawide lens, and a 50-megapixel telephoto sensor with a 3x optical zoom.
The Snapdragon 8 Elite will power the Open 2 and sport 16GB of RAM and 1TB of storage; however, it’s unclear if this will be the only storage configuration. Additionally, there will be a 6.4-inch AMOLED Cover Screen and an 8-inch LTPO inner screen with a 2K resolution and 120Hz refresh rate. SmartPrix says the phone will measure 10mm thin, making it thinner than the 10.5mm Pixel 9 Pro Fold. The handset should also feature an IPX8 rating, which is another upgrade from its predecessor.
Rumours indicate the OnePlus 2 will get a 5,900mAh battery, with 80W wired charging and 50W wireless charging. This is far improved compared to the 4,800mAh cell in the predecessor.
The OnePlus Open 2 will essentially be the American variant of the Oppo Find N5, which is expected to arrive in China early next year and be released globally in late Q1 2025.
