AP private hospitals demand pending Aarogyasri payments, threaten service suspension

Hyderabad

The private hospitals in Andhra Pradesh have halted services under the flagship healthcare scheme of the State Government, Aarogysri.

According to a functionary of AP Hospitals Association, the outpatient and ‘some other’ services have been stopped from Monday by a few hospitals and all empanelled hospitals have stopped from Tuesday morning.

“The pending dues from the government have reached almost ₹3000 crore due to which hospitals are unavailable sustain services,” he said.

If the government failed to clear dues immediately, emergency services would also be stopped in about a couple weeks, he added.

In the meanwhile, the government is likely to hold discussions with the hospitals today to convince them to resume services.
