Tata Steel blast furnace completes 50 mtpa output

Tata Steel today announced that its H-Blast Furnace at Jamshedpur exceeded 50 million tonnes of hot metal production. This makes the H Blast Furnace the first in India to accomplish this feat without undergoing any mid-term repairs, said the company.

Commissioned in 2008, the blast furnace has volume of 3230m³. It has consistently maintained about 20 per cent higher production than its designed capacity and an annual production higher than 3 million tonne every year.

Chaitanya Bhanu, Vice President – Operations, Tata Steel Jamshedpur said achieving 50 million tonne of hot metal production without mid-term repairs is a milestone for Tata Steel and a testament to its operational expertise.
