Cineplex is once again running a special discount on tickets and snacks on Tuesdays.

From January 14th to February 11th, moviegoers can snag general admission tickets and small popcorn for $5 each before taxes. You can also pay a surcharge to see movies in premium formats like UltraAVX at a discounted rate. Scene+ will also continue to get an additional 10 percent off any Tuesday admission. It’s important to note that tickets purchased online are also subject to Cineplex’s $1.50 booking fee, which is reduced to $1 for Scene+ members and waived entirely for CineClub subscribers. (Interestingly, the press release explicitly mentions the booking fee — no doubt part of the theatre chain’s efforts to be more transparent after it was fined nearly $40 million for deceptive business practices.)

While this promotion only runs for about a month, Cineplex says its normal discount Tuesday admissions will continue all year long. The $9.99/month CineClub membership also offers further discounts on admissions and concession items, as well as monthly free tickets.

It should be noted that January is generally a quiet period at the box office, which is no doubt why this promotion is happening now. Still, there are some noteworthy new releases this month, including Den of Thieves 2: Pantera starring Gerard Butler (January 10th), Wolf Man from The Invisible Man‘s Leigh Whannell (January 17th) and the Captain Underpants spin-off Dog Man (January 31st). There are also still some big movies from December in case you haven’t yet seen them, such as Sonic the Hedgehog 3, Mufasa: The Lion King, Nosferatu and A Complete Unknown. (Fellow cinephiles: Cineplex is also playing eight of acclaimed director David Fincher’s films, including Se7en, The Social Network and Zodiac, this month.)

Finally, Cineplex says its Rec Room entertainment centres also have their own ongoing promotions:

• Monday — $25 all-you-can-eat wings with $10 in gaming credits
• Tuesday — half-off gameplay on all arcade and recreational games
• Wednesday — half-off burgers and recreational games
• Thursday — buy one, get one free on classic poutine
• Friday — $10 off cocktail towers
