Telangana all set to implement new Revenue Act

The Telangana government is set to implement the Telangana Bhu Bharati (Record of Rights) Act, 2025, to bring major reforms to revenue administration.

Governor Jishnu Dev Varma has given his assent to the Telangana Bhu Bharati (Record of Rights) Act, passed by the State Legislature in its winter session, and a gazette notification has been issued.

The new Act replaces the Revenue Act of 2020, brought in by the previous BRS Government of K Chandrasekhar Rao, which introduced the Dharani portal. Citing various ‘problems’ with the Dharani portal, the present Congress government brought in the new Act.

The new Act introduces the digital platform Bhu Bharati, replacing the Dharani platform. It also facilitates reforms in village-level revenue administration by appointing revenue officers.

According to State Revenue Minister Pongulati Srinivas Reddy, the modalities for implementing the Act will be framed soon, and a date of implementation will be notified.
