MSI, a global provider of AI PCs and gaming solutions, has selected Syrma SGS Technology Limited as its manufacturing partner to produce laptops in India. The collaboration, announced on January 10, 2025, will begin with laptop assembly at Syrma SGS’s Chennai facility.
The shares of Syrma SGS Technology Limited were trading at ₹569.75, down by ₹25 or 4.20 per cent on the NSE today at 2:57 pm.
The partnership aims to strengthen MSI’s presence in the Indian market through local manufacturing, aligning with the government’s Make in India initiative. Syrma SGS, an IT hardware PLI-approved manufacturer, will utilise technology transfer and best practices from MSI to establish the production line.

MSI India NB General Manager John Hung emphasised India’s importance as a key market and the need for locally produced, globally competitive products. Syrma SGS CEO Satendra Singh highlighted how the collaboration would expand their IT hardware manufacturing portfolio.
Syrma SGS brings significant experience to the partnership, with over four decades in IT hardware manufacturing. The company’s portfolio includes memory, SSDs, motherboards, power adapters, and systems integration. For FY23-24, Syrma SGS reported consolidated revenue of approximately INR 3,212 Crores and serves more than 270 customers across 20+ countries.
The collaboration comes amid government initiatives to boost domestic laptop manufacturing through policy support, aimed at attracting global manufacturers to the Indian market.
