New Generals take charge in major Army shakeup

The Nigerian Army has announced a major reshuffle, with General Olufemi Oluyede, Chief of Army Staff (COAS), approving the appointment of new General Officers Commanding (GOCs), Principal Staff Officers (PSOs), Corps Commanders, and a new Commander for the Multinational Joint Task Force (MNJTF).

The redeployment is part of a strategic move to enhance the army’s capacity to tackle emerging security challenges and support the fight against terrorism and insurgency. Onyema Nwachukwu, Director of Army Public Relations, emphasized that the newly appointed senior officers are expected to bring renewed vigor, dedication, and commitment to their duties.

Key Appointments

GM Mutkut takes the helm as the new Force Commander of the MNJTF, moving from the Nigerian Army Heritage and Future Centre to Headquarters MNJTF in N’Djamena, Chad.

OT Olatoye is appointed as the new GOC 82 Division and Commander of Joint Task Force Operation Udoka (OPUK), transitioning from his role at the Nigerian Army School of Infantry.

EF Oyinlola is appointed as the GOC of 3 Division and Commander of Operation Safe Haven (OPSH), moving from the Department of Military Secretary.

AGL Haruna is confirmed as GOC 7 Division and Commander of Sector 1 of Joint Task Force North East Operation Hadin Kai.
IA Ajose is appointed as GOC 8 Division and Commander of Sector 2 of Joint Task Force North West Operation Fasan Yanma.

Other notable appointments include LA Fejokwu as Chief of Administration (Army), GU Chibuisi as Chief of Civil Military Affairs, and AS Ndalolo as Chief of Training (Army).
