Reps deputy Chief Whip, Onanuga dies at 60

The House of Representatives has announced the death of Adewunmi Oriyomi Onanuga, its deputy Whip, who represented the Ikenne/Sagamu/Remo North Federal Constituency of Ogun State.

According to a statement by Akintunde Rotimi, the House’s spokesperson, the Ogun lawmaker passed away on Wednesday, 15 January, following a brief illness. She was 60 years old.

Born on December 2, 1965, Onanuga was first elected to the House of Representatives in 2019 on the platform of the All Progressives Congress (APC) and was re-elected in 2023.

During her tenure in the 9th Assembly, she served as Chairperson of the House Committee on Women Affairs and Social Development. In this capacity, she championed initiatives aimed at empowering women and advancing social welfare policies.
