The President’s Working Group on Digital Assets includes officials from key agencies like the Treasury Department, the SEC, and the Commodity Futures Trading Commission. The group aims to develop a clear regulatory framework for digital assets and explore the creation of a national crypto stockpile.

Will Trump’s Summit Reshape Crypto Rules?

Trump’s executive order to establish this working group reversed a previous order by former President Joe Biden. The Biden administration had sought to create a crypto regulatory framework and explore a central bank digital currency (CBDC). Trump’s directive not only blocks CBDC development but also aims to support stablecoin regulations.

David Sacks, speaking at a February 4 press conference, emphasized the importance of keeping digital asset innovation in the U.S. He stated that financial assets would inevitably go digital, and the country should lead in this transition. The upcoming summit aligns with this vision.

The crypto industry has faced regulatory challenges in recent years. The SEC recently withdrew its case against Coinbase and paused actions against the Tron Foundation. Ethereum incubator ConsenSys and Gemini exchange also reported that the SEC had ended investigations against them.

While the attendees list remains undisclosed, the summit is expected to draw top figures from the crypto world. The event could set the foundation for new policies that shape the future of digital assets in the U.S.
