Apple delays robot vacuum support to 2025

While we were all excited when Apple announced at WWDC that robot vacuums were going to be integrated into HomeKit with iOS 18, but now it’s been delayed to 2025.

MacRumors is reporting that Apple has updated its Home website to mention that robot vacuum support is coming in 2025. You can find this wording in the 6* footnote at the bottom of the page. Interestingly, the main vacuum section on the Home webpage still says “coming later this year.” That being said, there is only 25 days left of 2024, so unless Apple plans to pack the vacuum support into iOS 18.2, which is rumoured to launch in early December, it will likely wait until 2025.

Even though it’s delayed, it’s exciting because it means that users can use Siri to control and start their vacuums. You should also be able to ask it to clean specific rooms. That said, according to Apple’s Home site, it seems like it will launch with support for U.S. English only.
