With spring around the corner, Rogers has discounted a few smartphones. It’s also offering a ‘deal’ on TV, though the offer in question isn’t really new.
Smartphone deals
The carrier’s headlining deal actually sucks, but if you hit all the criteria, you might be able to get an iPhone 16 for a really low monthly price.
To get the deal, you need to trade in an eligible phone in-store. Your new iPhone 16 will only be $4.50 per month. If you trade in online, you get a one-time $360 bill credit for the phone. Both discounts take the same amount off the total cost of the phone.
In the fine print, it seems to suggest that the iPhone 14 with 128GB of storage would be the oldest device that would qualify for the $360 trade-in. Perhaps a 13 Pro would also apply, but it seems like the pool of applicable phones is pretty small.
According to Roger’s website, you’ll also need to return your phone after two years, and a $75 sign-up fee may apply.
The deal gets a little better for the Samsung Galaxy S25, which you can get for $1 per month with the same $360 trade-in value, but the fine print suggests trading in at least a Galaxy S23 128GB. However, all of the other costs from the iPhone deal still apply.
There’s also a deal on the Pixel 9, which brings it down to $5 per month if you get it on a 24-month plan that includes the bring-it-back option. You don’t need to trade anything for this device.
TV ‘deal’
If you need TV, Rogers highlighted its new Xfinity App TV in the sale, which offers 40+ live channels and Netflix with ads for $25 per month. However, Rogers launched that program last month at the same price, so it’s not clear what’s actually on sale here. Further, you need Rogers internet to apply for this, so your monthly cost will technically be higher than $25.
When you factor in the cost of home internet, the cheapest option is $100 per month for 100Mbps internet speeds, and the most expensive is $145 for 1.5Gbps.
