Hero Future Energies launches green hydrogen plant in AP

Hero Future Energies (HFE) has launched a green hydrogen plant in Tirupati (Andhra Pradesh) that will blend the environmentally-friendly commodity with piped natural gas (PNG) and liquefied petroleum gas (LPG).

The plant will cater to Rockman Industries, a Hero Group company. It was inaugurated by Andhra Pradesh Chief Minister N Chandrababu Naidu on Monday, Hero Future Energies said.

Rockman Industries is the largest alloy wheel manufacturer in India with a capacity of 17 million two-wheeler wheels and 1.5 million four-wheeler wheels.

“This plant has the unique capability of blending green hydrogen with LNG, which opens the door of possibilities for industries to decarbonise their hard-to-abate operations,” Hero Future Energies CMD, Rahul Munjal, said.

Green Hydrogen adoption

This pioneering project will give a boost to the adoption of green hydrogen by industries and catalyse the development of the green hydrogen ecosystem in India, he added.

Ujjwal Munjal, Managing Director of Rockman Industries, said, “Looking ahead, we aim to expand green hydrogen usage across our processes and collaborate with HFE to implement further advancements in renewable energy technologies.”
