Humane shows off CosmOS and how it works on TVs and cars

With the AI Pin off the table, Humane is now showing off its AI OS ‘CosmOS’ and how it works with smartphones, smart speakers, TVs and even cars. A new video from Humane showcases how CosmOS can operate with various connected devices, and it looks fantastic.

However, it’s worth noting the video has the following statement in small print at the very end:

“This video demonstrates working prototypes and includes some simulated experiences. All designs, features and specifications are for illustrative purposes only, are subject to change, and may not represent the final product performance or availability. This presentation does not constitute a commitment to deliver specific features, functionality, or timelines and final products and experiences may vary.”

The video shows how a CosmOS in a car can help people set meetings, figure out their calendar, ask for restaurant suggestions, and even turn up the thermostat at home. When the user got home, an unknown smart speaker could read out a recipe, and they could ask about their soccer game. Then, the user asked the TV about a soccer player’s scoring stats (without naming the player) as the CosmOS understood the context and that the user was talking about the player who just scored a goal.

CosmOS was also on the user’s phone, and they asked them to read an email and if any follow-ups were needed. The AI was also able to find space on the user’s calendar and schedules to see whether they could make an RSVP. The phone looks like a Pixel device in this scene, but I can’t confirm that. Every brand in the video was blurred out.

CosmOS is device and LLM-agnostic, so it’ll work on any device. “And as we get closer to releasing our SDK to the public, developers and enterprise will easily be able to add and integrate their agents data and services to CosmOS, leveraging the powerful ecosystem to provide even more utility to all types of devices and platforms,” according to the voiceover.

While I took a quick look at the AI Pin back in February, I never got to review the device. Unfortunately, others who got the chance to review the handset had issues with the AI, so perhaps Humane will work on CosmOS a bit more before launching it.
