Airtel boosts network infrastructure for Prayagraj Maha Kumbh 

Bharti Airtel has significantly expanded its network infrastructure in Prayagraj to handle the massive influx of pilgrims expected for the Maha Kumbh, the company announced today.

The shares of Bharti Airtel Limited were trading at ₹1,585 down by ₹13.85 or 0.87 per cent on the NSE today at 2.02 pm.

The telecom provider has deployed 287 new sites and optimised over 340 existing ones while installing 78 cell on wheels (COW) within the Kumbh mela premises. The company has also laid an additional 74 kilometers of fiber across the city to enhance mobile coverage.

To manage potential emergencies, Airtel has established three war rooms in Jhusi, Arail, and Sangam areas, supported by a dedicated disaster management team equipped with generators and critical equipment. The company has also partnered with Prayagraj Traffic Police to set up 780 kiosks at entry and exit points to manage crowd movement and display safety instructions.

The enhanced infrastructure will provide coverage to key areas including highways, railway stations, airports, hotels, and high-footfall locations throughout Prayagraj.

Airtel, which serves over 550 million customers across 15 countries in India and Africa, is India’s largest integrated communications solutions provider. The company offers various services including 4G/5G mobile broadband, fiber connectivity, and digital payment solutions, along with enterprise services such as cloud computing and cybersecurity.
