All gaming decks, on hand!

With CES 2025 having concluded a couple of days ago, we’ve already had a glimpse into exciting tech goodies waiting for us in the year ahead. A hugely popular yet niche category among these are handheld gaming consoles. With few brands in the foray, competition remains tough, and the handheld gaming experience is still seeing significant progress. Here are four such devices that might find their way onto your hands this year, if you’re looking for a more mobile, non-tethered gaming experience.

Acer Nitro Blaze 11

The supersized Acer Nitro Blaze 11 looks like a tablet that decided it was enough when it reached gaming console dimensions. With a massive 10.95-inch touchscreen that supports up to 120 Hz refresh rates, the Nitro Blaze 11 is as immersive as it comes. With 500 nits brightness, you could easily get a gaming session if you’re out and about during daytime. With up to 2 TB of storage, there’s ample space for games on board. Under the hood, it packs an AMD Ryzen 7 8840HS processor with 16 GB RAM. The device features detachable controllers equipped with Hall Effect sticks and triggers, enhancing gameplay precision and flexibility.

Lenovo Legion Go S

Sporting an 8-inch PureSight display, the Lenovo Legion Go S slowly but steadily builds on making the iconic Legion experience mobile. The display supports refresh rates of up to 120 Hz for seamless gameplay. Powered by AMD Ryzen Z2 Go, the device is designed with Legion TrueStrike controllers & adjustable trigger switches. The proprietary Legion ColdFront tech now includes a bigger fan and heat sinks so you can play without the need to cooldown. With a 55.5 Whr battery, the console keeps you gaming for extended periods of time while dual-USB ports ensure you can hook up to a larger display whenever needed.

MSI Claw 8 AI+

Sporting an 8 inch, the MSI Claw 8 AI+, incorporates machine learning in its latest avatar that studies your gaming patterns, to coach you to play better. Powered by the next-gen Intel Core Ultra 7 processor it brings on board immersive haptics and AI-assisted fast response times. Upgraded with larger batteries for longer gaming sessions, the Claw 8 AI+ also comes with advanced cooling technology. The sticks too have been redesigned, along with bumpers, the D-pad and the hall-effect triggers, promising a more immersive and ergonomic experience. The gaming console is compatible with more than 150 AAA titles.

Razer PC Remote Play (BETA)

While it’s not technically a full-fledged gaming device, its superpower is turning any device of your choice into a gaming platform. Currently being rolled out in Beta mode, Razer’s PC Remote Play controller bridges the gap between your powerful PC setup and the couch you love to sink into. If you have your favourite titles on your PC, this controller lets you access it on your smartphone or tablet seamlessly, and game on these with the controller. With support for devices running iOS 18 and Android 14 or later, it also lets you stream PC games from your desktop to other Windows 11 devices. The only pre-requisite is for Razer Cortex to be installed on your PC, and Razer PC Remote Play and Razer Nexus need to be installed on your mobile device. Without a Razer ID, you can still use pin pairing to pair your PC and mobile device, making gaming truly remote.
