Alpha Wave Ventures II proposes acquisition of 12.44% in Advanta Enterprises

Alpha Wave Ventures II, LP (AWV II), a flagship private equity fund, has proposed acquiring a 12.44 per cent stake in Advanta Enterprises Limited.

The transaction, filed under Section 5(d) of the Competition Act, 2002, aims to boost AWV II’s portfolio with high-quality growth-stage companies.

AWV II is a joint venture between Alpha Wave Global, LP and Lunate Holding RSC Ltd.

With this strategic investment, AWV II reinforces its focus on fostering scalable growth within India’s agricultural and agribusiness sectors, potentially driving advancements in seed technologies and sustainable farming practices. The deal now awaits the approval of the Competition Commission of India (CCI).

Advanta, a leader in seed breeding, production, and commercialization, aligns with AWV II’s investment strategy of supporting businesses that promise robust financial gains and long-term growth.

AWV II has emphasized its intention to remain a supportive partner while Advanta continues its operations in agricultural innovation.

The filing with the CCI highlights that the transaction introduces no horizontal overlaps or significant vertical integrations between the two parties.

While potential complementary relationships were noted—such as in digital farming solutions and crop insurance markets—AWV II asserts that these markets are fragmented and competitive. The transaction is not expected to alter market dynamics or reduce competition significantly.
