AP Government targets to complete Polavaram project by October 2026: CM Naidu

Andhra Pradesh Government is targeting to complete the Polavaram project by October 2026, according to Chief Minister N Chandrababu Naidu.

Speaking to newspersons after visiting the project site on Monday, Naidu said after its completion, Polavaram would act as a lifeline for Andhra Pradesh as an additional 7.20 lakh acres will be brought under cultivation apart from providing drinking water to 28 lakh and facilitating 960 MW of power generation. It would also cater to the water needs of Visakhapatnam industries as well as residents.

“Polvaram will be a game-changer if rivers are inter-linked after its completion. Krishan to Nagarjuna Sagar Canal should be inter-linked in future,’‘ Naidu said, adding that if Godavari water were brought to Visakhapatnam they could reach other parts of the State too and thus, Polavaram project would benefit the entire State.

The Polavaram project and new capital at Amaravati were like two eyes to the State and the NDA Government in the State was committed to complete both over the next three years, the Chief Minister said.
