Apple’s AirPods Pro underwent a number of changes from the earlier Apple AirPods 1 and Apple AirPods 2. In our opinion, the most interesting change is the active noise canceling technology, a technology in which sound waves are canceled via waves with a reverse phase. According to Apple, that would happen 200 times per second, but practice shows us that you should always try out earphones with ANC technology. We have to say that Apple succeeds really well at this, especially with regard to the noise from the air conditioning or traffic, for example. The tapping on a keyboard, on the other hand, is less effective in filtering out these AirPods from Apple, just like the conversation of cheering colleagues. However, such disturbing noises suddenly become a lot less loud. Our Apple AirPods Pro review shows that in some cases they do better than other earpieces with ANC, especially when it comes to filtering out the air conditioning noise. On the train, they do not perform as well.

In addition to the ANC technology, the new transparency mode also stands out. Ambient noise remains audible and only high tones are filtered out. It is especially useful if you want to be safe in traffic and still enjoy the best music quality. It does feel a bit strange because your own voice suddenly sounds completely different. Furthermore, there is no delay at all, but that is also the case with the AirPods 1 from Apple. Compared to Apple’s AirPods 2, this is an increase of 18 mAh or 72%. As a result, the battery life is more in line with that of other competitors, which in turn is a good reason to ignore the AirPods 2 with charging case and opt for the Apple AirPods Pro.

We don’t have to tell you that the Apple AirPods price is not immediately low. And for that price, we can expect quite a bit of wearing comfort. Fortunately, Apple managed to do that well. With many manufacturers, you do suffer from a pressure difference because your ear canal is closed. This is not the case with these AirPods from Apple, because there are ventilation holes. Thanks to the ANC technology, those holes do not affect the sound quality, while wearing comfort only increases.

We do recommend using the rubber caps if you want to experience the sound even better. They have a slightly better shape, according to Apple, but in fact, we have not noticed much of that. They are fine, but it may take a while to find the right size. The Ear Tip Test on your iOS device is a useful extra function in that regard.

Anyway, everything is nice and comfortable, although the Apple AirPods Pro is slightly heavier than the AirPods from Apple from 2018. Nevertheless, they are still lighter than those of other manufacturers and that is always nice. Although they are not the best earphones for sports, they do stay in place and you can still hear the traffic well. Jogging or cycling in the rain is not a problem for the Apple AirPods Pro, but for intensive athletes, we still recommend specific sports ears.

Sustainability and Ecology

Apple has been criticized in the past. Of course, you get that when you buy cobalt in Congo, where children are allowed to close their hands every day to avoid dying in the cobalt mines.
