Axis Bank, TCS gain amid Sensex slide; Zomato, Power Grid drag markets

Share prices of Axis Bank Ltd, TCS, HUL, and IndusInd Bank emerged as the top gainers among the BSE Sensex stocks today.

Among the major losers were shares of Zomato Ltd, Power Grid Corporation, Adani Ports & Special Economic Zone Ltd, Tata Steel Ltd, and NTPC Ltd.

The BSE Sensex and NSE Nifty extended their losing streak for another session on Monday. The Sensex plunged 1.36 per cent or 1,048.90 points to close at 76,330.01, while the Nifty fell 1.47 per cent or 345.55 points to end at 23,085.95.

Top gainers

Axis Bank led the gains among Sensex stocks, rising 0.78 per cent to ₹1,048.95. TCS followed with a 0.62 per cent increase to ₹4,291.80. Hindustan Unilever added 0.45 per cent to reach ₹2,453.00, while IndusInd Bank gained 0.41 per cent to close at ₹941.45.

Top losers

Zomato emerged as the biggest laggard, dropping 6.52 per cent to ₹227.15. Power Grid Corporation fell 4.09 per cent to ₹287.55, followed by Adani Ports which declined 4.08 per cent to ₹1,066.75. Tata Steel shed 3.49 per cent to close at ₹122.95, while NTPC slipped 3.23 per cent to end at ₹298.25.

The markets opened lower, with Sensex starting at 76,629.90 compared to its previous close of 77,378.91. Similarly, Nifty began trading at 23,195.40, down from its previous close of 23,431.50, before extending losses through the session.
