BEML secures Rs 136 cr contract for High Mobility Vehicles (HMV) 8×8

Defence PSU BEML Limited has secured ₹136-crore contract to supply indigenously designed High Mobility Vehicles (HMVs) 8×8.

According to the company, these vehicles will be deployed for the Battlefield Surveillance System (BFSS) project.

The HMVs will primarily be manufactured at the Palakkad plant, with additional production in other divisions as determined by management based on operational feasibility, BEML added.

Commenting on the deal, Shantanu Roy, CMD of BEML, stated that it reflects the company’s focus on innovation and self-reliance in defence manufacturing.

He added that BEML aims to support India’s Atmanirbhar Bharat mission by contributing to the country’s defence capabilities and preparedness.

Recently, the PSU signed a Memorandum of Understanding (MoU) with Mazagon Dock Shipbuilders Ltd (MDL) to jointly advance research and development for marine applications.

This deal win comes as the PSU looks to strengthen its focus on the defense, rail, and metro.

businessline had previously reported that the PSU expects nearly 65 percent of its revenue to come from these sunrise sectors.

To support this growth, BEML plans to increase investments in resources, human capital, and capital expenditure.
