Bharat Mobility Global Expo 2025: Day 2 unveils exciting future mobility innovations from Hyundai, VinFast, BYD

The second day of Bharat Mobility Global Expo 2025 kicked off with some exciting unveiling of future mobility that would change the perception of electric vehicles (EVs) in personal ownership, and public transportation.

The day started with the launch of two EVs — VF 7 and VF 6 — from Vietnam-based VinFast, which  entered the Indian automobile market last year with an assembling facility in Chennai. These products will be rolled out in the next few months, the company said adding that it will be appointing dealers across all major towns in India with an omni channel presence.

India is also the first market where VinFast will launch the right-hand drive versions of the VF 7 and VF 6, the company said adding that these two models are expected to meet the electrification needs of consumers and set a new benchmark in the green transportation industry in India.

“We believe our premium SUVs VF 7 and VF 6 are the game changers that will accelerate of the adoption of EVs in India. Our presence here not only underlines our commitment to the Indian market but also showcases our vision for sustainable mobility solutions and advanced technology,” Pham Sanh Chau, CEO of VinFast Asia, said.

BYD India Sealion 7 eSUV

Similarly, Chinese subsidiary BYD India introduced BYD Sealion 7 Pure Performance eSUV. The company said it has also commenced bookings of this fully electric SUV which will continue until February 17 under the promotional booking offer.

The company also showcased the BYD Sealion 6, BYD Super Plug-in Hybrid EV with DM-i technology and the Yangwang U8, to celebrate 17 years of successful operations in India.

“Our lineup represents a breakthrough in automotive technology, setting new standards for what consumers can expect from EVs. We are excited to lead the charge in transforming the industry with products that not only inspire but also contribute meaningfully to a greener future. In line with this, we are set to expand our dealership network to 40 within January and grow our network even further through 2025,” Rajeev Chauhan, Head of Electric Passenger Vehicles (EPV) Business at BYD India, said.

Hyundai TVS Motor collaboration

‘Creta’ maker Hyundai Motor India (HMIL) also showcased its future mobility with the unveiling of concept models of advanced electric three-wheelers and micro four-wheelers. Together with TVS Motor Company (TVS Motor), the company is exploring contributions to the last-mile mobility market in India.

While no binding agreements have been explored or executed, Hyundai Motor is exploring the potential to offer design, engineering and technology, while TVS Motor will explore manufacturing and marketing of the vehicles, the company said.

This commitment has driven us to explore designing micro-mobility solutions tailored to India’s unique environment, reimagining the iconic three-wheeler to enhance mobility experiences through thoughtful design,” SangYup Lee, Executive Vice President and Head of Hyundai and Genesis Global Design, said.

Collaborating with TVS Motor, HMIL aims to locally produce the three-wheeler while exploring global opportunities for the four-wheeler, blending intuitive functionality with the spirit of a rapidly innovating India, he added.

“This potential collaboration reflects our commitment to innovation and sustainability. With a shared vision, we are confident that this partnership under discussion will deliver impactful solutions that set new standards in design, engineering, technology, and quality,” Sharad Mishra, President, Group Strategy, TVS Motor Company, said.

BMW Mini Cooper S launch

In the luxury segment, BMW Group India launched the new Mini Cooper S John Cooper Works Pack, priced at ₹55.90 lakh (the ex-showroom). The car will be available as a completely built-up unit (CBU), and deliveries will begin in April. The company has already commenced bookings.

The fifth-generation MINI Cooper S combines progressive technology with the sportiness of John Cooper Works Pack, along with the MINI body language and origins. Together, they pack an innovative punch with a new personality and hallmark driving dynamics.

“With its dynamic, sporty exterior and exclusive John Cooper Works trim, the special edition stands out as the epitome of driving fun and individuality. The sporty details of the interior are an expression of motorsport passion, while the highly digital interactive interfaces make for a hi-tech experience,” Vikram Pawah, President and CEO, BMW Group India said.

In its motorcycle segment, BMW Motorrad launched the new BMW S 1000 RR, with an introductory price starting from Rs.21.10 lakh (ex-showroom).

In the commercial vehicles segment, Delji-based JBM Electric Vehicles showcased four electric buses: the all-new electric luxury coach Galaxy, the intercity bus Xpress, the first-of-its-kind low-floor electric Medical Mobile Unit e-MediLife, and India’s first-ever 9-meter electric Tarmac Coach e-SkyLife.

Eka Mobility, which is participating for the first time in the Expo, unveiled an EV range that includes over 11 distinct platforms for electric buses, trucks, and small commercial vehicles.
