Boba Bhai bags ₹30 cr in Series A led by 8i Ventures to boost expansion

Boba Bhai, a Boba tea and Korean food brand has raised ₹30 crore in its Series A funding round. The funding will be used to expand the brand’s presence to new cities, strengthen operations in existing markets, introduce innovative menu offerings, and develop sub-brands tailored to evolving consumer tastes.

Additionally, the company plans to hire senior talent to bolster its leadership team, said Dhruv Kohli, Founder and CEO of Boba Bhai.

Kohli shared that the company aims to deepen its presence in existing cities while expanding to new locations such as Pune and Ahmedabad. “We see huge potential in tier-two and tier-three cities in India. Over the next few years, we aim to expand our presence to about 30 cities across the country,” he told businessline.

Currently, Boba Bhai operates in six cities and plans to target the top 20 cities as part of its growth strategy. It also aims to strengthen its operational capabilities and enhance customer experiences across its outlets.

The Series A round saw participation from Titan Capital, Winners Fund, Global Growth Capital, DEVC, and existing investors. Previously, the restaurant chain raised ₹12.5 crore in seed funding, led by Titan Capital and Global Growth Capital UK.

Vishwanath V, General Partner at 8i Ventures, stated, “Boba Bhai is a key player in the bubble tea category and has established a strong presence among Gen Z in India. We are pleased to collaborate with them.”

Shiv Kapoor, Vice President at Titan Capital Winners Fund, added, “Boba Bhai is strategically positioned to leverage the increasing popularity of Korean pop culture in India.”

Founded in 2023, Boba Bhai has rapidly scaled its operations, with over 80,000 monthly orders and a presence in 42 outlets across nine cities, including Bengaluru, Mumbai, Chennai, Hyderabad, Delhi, Gurugram, Noida, Udaipur, and Mangalore.

Kohli stated that the company is already profitable at the store level and expects to achieve company-level profitability within the next 8–10 months. The brand also boasts a strong repeat order rate of 48 per cent.
