CMRL to enhance non-fare revenue through strategic property development at key metro stations

Chennai Metro Rail Limited has signed a contract agreement for the Preparation of a Detailed Project Report (DPR) for Property Development at Alandur, Alapakkam Junction, Boat Club, Nandanam, and Wimco Nagar Depot in CMRL Phase 1 and Phase 2.

The contract has been awarded to Jones Lang Lasalle Property Consultants India Pvt.Ltd for a value of ₹67 lakhs (excluding GST).

CMRL has planned to generate non-fare revenue along with fare revenue by integrating the property development with the metro stations at Alandur & Alapakkam and Nandanam, Boat Club, and Wimco Nagar Depot. Alapakkam PD is integrated with the entry/exits of the Phease2 station through FOB. Nandanam PD will be integrated with the upcoming phase -2 underground station. Alandur PD will be integrated with Phase 1 and Phase 2 metro stations.

Wimco Nagar depot station will have eight floors of property development above the existing metro building.

The final DPR will be available in 150 days from the LOA, according to a release.
