Going Electric: Auto makers unveil e-scooters on Day-1 at Bharat Mobility Global Expo 2025

Going green via electric was among the major themes at the first day of the Bharat Mobility Global Expo 2025 with top automobile manufacturers such as Suzuki Motorcycle India (SMIPL) and Honda Motorcycle and Scooter India (HMSI) unveiling e-scooters.

SMIPL unveiled its first electric scooter, the e-ACCESS, on Friday which is a significant step towards electric mobility, while HMSI launched the much-awaited ACTIVA e: and QC1 electric scooters.

On the other hand, Hero MotoCorp, the world’s largest manufacturer of motorcycles and scooters, showcased the 250cc Xtreme 250R and strengthened its Xpulse portfolio with the addition of the Xpulse 210.

SMIPL also unveiled its first E-85 fuel compliant motorcycle for the Indian market, the GIXXER SF 250 Flex Fuel, a sports bike designed to drive India towards a carbon neutral society.

Toshihiro Suzuki, Representative Director and President of Suzuki Motor Corporation, Japan, said, “At Suzuki Motor Corporation, we are committed to our goal of carbon neutrality through a multi-pathway approach. While battery electric vehicles play an important role, they are not the only way to achieve carbon neutrality. We are also focusing on alternative options such as E-Fuels, Hydrogen Engines, Bio-Fuel models, and better fuel economy in internal combustion engines.”

Going electric

Suzuki’s first electric scooter, the e-Access—Spot On, is born of Suzuki’s passion for quality and delivering superior value. With Spot-on Styling, Spot-on Performance, Spot-on Reliability, Spot-on Practicality and Spot-on Connectivity, the e-ACCESS is a fun, practical and reliable electric scooter.

It can be charged from 0 to 100 per cent in 6 hours and 42 minutes using a portable charger and in 2 hours 12 minutes using a fast charger. The complete EV drivetrain of the scooter is powered by Suzuki E-technology.

HMSI’s all-new ACTIVA e: and QC1 have been priced starting at ₹1,17,000 and ₹90,000, ex-showroom Bengaluru, respectively. The company has also introduced Care Packages for the EVs, designed to safeguard their overall value and enhance vehicle longevity.

Marking a pivotal moment in HMSI’s journey towards sustainable mobility, the all-new ACTIVA e: and QC1 aim to redefine urban transportation in the country. Bookings for both the EVs are already open in select cities across the country. Customers can book by paying a nominal amount of ₹1,000 only.

The ACTIVA e: will be available in three cities in the first phase with deliveries starting in Bengaluru from February 2025 and in Delhi & Mumbai from April 2025 onwards.

QC1 will be available in six cities, including Delhi, Mumbai, Pune, Bengaluru, Hyderabad, and Chandigarh.

Hero MotoCorp made a powerful debut in the 250cc segment with the launch of the Xtreme 250R. Powered by a 250cc liquid-cooled, 4-valve DOHC engine tuned for all out performance, producing 30 PS at 9,250 rpm of peak power and 25 Nm at 7250 rpm of peak torque, making it the fastest 250cc motorcycle in its class.

Crafted and tested by Hero Motosports riders, the Xpulse 210 is designed to empower the spirit of adventure. The powerful 210cc DOHC liquid-cooled engine generates 24.6 PS at 9250 rpm and 20.7 Nm at 7250 rpm of torque.

The class-leading suspension setup, with 210mm front and 205mm rear travel and a generous 220mm ground clearance, ensures superior performance across varied terrains.
