If you’ve ever wanted to use a PS5 DualSense controller on Xbox, Hyperkin has you covered — sort of.
At CES 2025, the video game peripheral manufacturer unveiled a DualSense-inspired Xbox controller, featuring the PS5 gamepad’s signature white-and-black aesthetic, symmetrical analogue sticks and segmented D-pad. It’s even called ‘The Competitor,’ in case the design philosophy wasn’t clear enough.
That said, Hyperkin’s gamepad is lacking two of the key features of the actual DualSense: adaptive triggers and haptic feedback. It’s also only wired, whereas the DualSense can, of course, be used wirelessly. In place of those features, The Competitor sports Hall Effect joysticks and triggers, meaning it uses magnetic fields and electric sensors to provide more accurate in-game controls and reduced stick-drift.
Of course, the biggest question mark with any product is the price, and Hyperkin is staying mum on that right now, simply saying The Competitor will launch sometime in the second quarter of 2025. In Canada, the DualSense and Xbox controllers cost $94.99 and $74.99, respectively, so it remains to be seen where in that price range The Competitor might fall.
