Cautioning the public about phishing attempts, the International Financial Services Authority (IFSCA) in GIFT City said that fraudulent emails impersonating its senior management have been sent from addresses that do not belong to the unified regulator.
Senior IFSCA officials told businessline that many senior officials have received such fraudulent mails. “The IFSCA encourages everyone to exercise caution and verify the authenticity of any unexpected mails, particularly those requesting personal or financial information,” the IFSCA said in a statement.
It said that a “series of phishing attempts” have been made involving fraudulent emails impersonating its senior management. “In this regard, the IFSCA emphasis that all official communications with regulated entities only occurs through email addresses with email domain @ifsca.gov.in. Any correspondence claiming to be from IFSCA employees using different domain names should be treated as suspicious and ignored,” the statement added.
