India will soon become 15–20% of GlobalLogic’s business, says CEO Nitesh Banga

India will soon become 15 to 20 per cent of GlobalLogic’s business, said Nitesh Banga, the President & CEO of the Hitachi Group company.

“APAC is about half of our engineering powerhouse and India is an important part. From a market perspective, North America is about 60%. While Europe is important to us, Asia is improving significantly in terms of our expansion. At this point, we believe India will soon become 15 to 20% of our business very quickly, and Japan, Australia, Southeast Asia become important markets served out of India,” he said.

India, which houses close to 50 per cent of the company’s global headcount, will only grow faster since a large part of its clients across North America and Western Europe are looking at the country from an expansion perspective, he said.

In an earlier interaction with businessline, Piyush Jha, MD and CEO – India & APAC, GlobalLogic, said the company had over 15,000 employees in the country, with plans to expand its presence in tier II and tier III cities. Globally, it has over 30,000 employees.

“India will continue to become a lion’s share of our engineering powerhouse,” Banga added.

With a big presence in Eastern Europe, many of GlobalLogic’s clients want to explore India for core IT services, innovation-based engineering, and next-generation products, platforms, and services.

The company, which set up its Japan operations two years ago, is seeing significant expansion in the country with digital engineering, and next-generation product engineering.

“Japanese firms are keen to develop India as a big part of their expansion, not only for talent but also for the market. Companies like Suzuki, Honda, Mitsubishi, and Hitachi have a big presence in India. So, in that sense, India becomes an important element for our own business,” explained the CEO.

Adding that India is on a great journey from a business perspective, Jha said that India is already above 50 per cent of GlobalLogic’s benchmark in terms of the engineering powerhouse it provides.

“From an innovation perspective, many new-age AI tools we are adopting come from India. The third dimension we’ve added of late is the India as a market perspective. Our business in GCCs has increased 2x in the last two years. We plan to make it 2x further in the next two years and are well on course for it,” said Jha, who had earlier shared that in India and APAC, GlobalLogic aims to achieve a revenue of $1 billion by 2027.

In November, GlobalLogic opened a new delivery center in Hyderabad, with plans to hire 2,000 people over the next three years.

The company has an office presence across 10 Indian cities in Noida, Nagpur, Pune, Ahmedabad, Bangalore, Chennai, Hyderabad, Gurugram, Mahabubnagar, and Kochi through the acquisition of Katzion.
