Jio Platforms Limited (JPL) announced today at Mobile World Congress 2025 a collaboration with AMD, Cisco and Nokia to develop an Open Telecom AI Platform. Designed to support today’s operators and service providers with real-world, AI-driven solutions, the Telecom AI Platform is set to drive unprecedented efficiency, security, capabilities and new revenue opportunities for the service provider industry.

The initiative aims to transform telecom operations through advanced AI integration across network systems.

The platform will create a central intelligence layer for telecom and digital services, designed to enhance network security, efficiency and reduce total cost of ownership for operators. The system will be LLM-agnostic and utilise open APIs while leveraging various AI technologies, including agentic AI, Large Language Models (LLMs), domain-specific Small Language Models (SLMs) and traditional machine learning techniques.

“By harnessing agentic AI across all telco layers, we are building a multimodal, multidomain orchestrated workflow platform that redefines efficiency, intelligence and security for the telecom industry,” said Mathew Oommen, Group CEO of Reliance Jio.

The collaboration brings together expertise from across the technology spectrum. AMD will contribute high-performance computing solutions, while Cisco will provide integrated solutions, including networking, computing and analytics capabilities. Nokia will bring its expertise in RAN, Core, fixed broadband and transport technologies.

Jio will serve as the first customer for the platform, creating what the companies describe as a “replicable reference architecture” for the global service provider industry. The initiative is positioned not just as a network enhancement tool but also as a catalyst for new revenue opportunities in the telecom sector.

The Open Telecom AI Platform is planning to be adaptable across the industry, with the stated goal of enabling intelligent automation, optimising network efficiency and accelerating the adoption of AI-driven applications for both enterprise and consumer services.
