JSW Group plans to launch slew of vehicles under independent brand with an investment of $1 billion: Parth Jindal

JSW Group that has a stake in MG Motor India, on Friday said it will launch its own independent range of cars, trucks and buses under the JSW brand, and will also invest $1 billion for the same.

Speaking to reporters here at the Bharat Mobility Global Expo 2025, Parth Jindal, Director, JSW MG Motor India also said that the company was looking at a new manufacturing facility also in Odisha — could be for EVs, batteries or other vehciles, though no timeline has been fixed.

“For now, we have commenced work in Aurangabad. It’s not that we are moving anything from Odisha, we are keeping Odisha open where we continuing with some of the investments in Odisha now and we will make subsequent investments in time. We need to invest in many States so we are, as a group always looking at new opportunities in new States,” Jindal said.

The JSW Group had entered into joint venture agreement with China’s largest automaker SAIC Motor (parent company of MG Motor) in November 2023, to accelerate the transformation and growth of MG Motor in India. It holds 35 per cent in the JV — JSW MG Motor India and SAIC continues supporting the JV with technology and products.

Jindal said the group is in talks with different players for technology tie-ups, and its first vehicle from the independent auto firm is expected to hit the roads around 2027-2028.

He further said that JSW MG Motor India will continue to launch newer products including pure electric and plug-in hybrids, but also keep in mind of launching internal combustion (ICE) engine vehicles too.

“We as a company want to be at the forefront of the NEVs (New Energy Vehicles), but that doesn’t mean we will ignore the ICE vehicles. We will continue to bring ICE vehicles, continue to bring energy-efficient ICE products, we also have wonderful hybrid technologies/ plug-in hybrid technologies, and we have regular EV technologies…So we want to continue to bring as and when the market demands,” Jindal added.
