Man United reject Napoli’s £40m bid for Garnacho

Manchester United have turned down an opening bid of £40m from Napoli for Alejandro Garnacho but have reportedly set a £60m price tag for the young winger. Garnacho, who has warmed to the idea of a move, could be the subject of further offers as Napoli intensify their pursuit.

United face tough decisions in their efforts to free up funds and space for a significant squad overhaul. While the club is open to offloading stars like Casemiro, Antony, and Marcus Rashford, they are also willing to part with academy graduates Kobbie Mainoo and Garnacho—if the price is right.

Napoli, seeking a replacement for Khvicha Kvaratskhelia, have identified Garnacho as their top target. Kvaratskhelia is expected to complete a €70m-plus move to PSG imminently, leaving a void on Napoli’s left wing. Antonio Conte’s side has moved swiftly, initiating talks with Manchester United, as confirmed by Sky Germany’s Florian Plettenberg.

However, their initial £40m offer was swiftly rejected. According to The Mirror, Manchester United have informed Napoli that they will only entertain offers meeting their £60m valuation.

Encouragingly for Napoli, Garnacho is reportedly open to the transfer. The Mirror states, “Garnacho is keen to leave Old Trafford and is keen on a move to Naples.” Despite this, United are prepared to “play hardball” and insist on their valuation being met before any deal is finalized.

With Napoli in need of a quick resolution to secure a readymade replacement for Kvaratskhelia, it remains to be seen whether they will meet United’s demands or explore alternative targets.
