Markets end higher led by Zomato’s 4% surge; M&M, Bajaj twins drop 

Share prices of Zomato Ltd., NTPC Ltd., Power Grid Corporation and Kotak Mahindra Bank were the top gainers among the BSE Sensex stocks.

Among the losers were shares of Mahindra & Mahindra Ltd., Bajaj Finserv Ltd., Bajaj Finance Ltd., and Axis Bank Ltd.

The BSE Sensex and NSE Nifty ended positive after opening higher on Wednesday. The Sensex closed 0.29 per cent or 224.45 points up at 76,724.08, while the Nifty ended 0.16 per cent or 37.15 points higher at 23,213.20.

Top Gainers

Zomato emerged as the top Sensex gainer with a rise of 4.36 per cent, closing at ₹244.00. This was followed by NTPC, which gained 3.35 per cent to close at ₹321.25. PowerGrid saw an increase of 3.03 per cent, ending at ₹298.80.

Kotak Mahindra Bank and Maruti Suzuki also performed well, with gains of 2.29 per cent and 1.69 per cent respectively. Maruti closed at ₹11,940.60, while Kotak Bank ended at ₹1,789.30.

Top Losers

Among the top losers, Mahindra & Mahindra (M&M) declined 2.91 per cent to close at ₹2,960.05. Bajaj Finserv fell by 2.27 per cent to ₹1,673.45, while Bajaj Finance dropped 2.16 per cent to end at ₹7,176.05.

Axis Bank shares also declined, falling 2.14 per cent to close at ₹1,027.35. Tata Motors saw a modest decline of 0.93 per cent, ending at ₹763.45.
