MCCIA launches monthly growth tracking survey for Pune region industries

The Mahratta Chamber of Commerce Industries and Agriculture (MCCIA) has introduced a monthly survey to monitor growth expectations of industries across Pune and its surrounding areas.

This initiative follows MCCIA’s earlier two-year-long survey, which assessed post-COVID recovery and concluded with businesses achieving a recovery of 95 to 100 per cent to pre-pandemic levels.

In the inaugural edition of the new survey, MCCIA polled 108 companies to evaluate their growth projections for the current financial year (2024-25) compared to the previous one.

The findings revealed that 81 per cent of respondents expect growth, 9 per cent foresee no change, and another 9 per cent anticipate a decline. Significantly, over 37 per cent of the surveyed companies predict revenue growth of 20 per cent or more, with the defence and electronic manufacturing sectors driving this optimistic outlook.

The surveyed companies included a diverse mix of sizes: 5 per cent were large companies with revenues exceeding ₹250 crore, while the remaining comprised 9 per cent medium-sized, 30 per cent small, and 56 per cent micro-enterprises. This distribution reflects the broader industrial landscape of India, where micro, small, and medium enterprises (MSMEs) dominate in numbers.

MCCIA will conduct this survey each month to monitor industry expectations and potential growth throughout the financial year ending 31 March 2025. The insights gathered aim to help regional industries navigate challenges and capitalise on emerging opportunities effectively.
