OpenAI has made its Sora video generative AI available outside of its previous preview state, and you can use it for yourself right now.
The catch? It’s only available to people who pay for ChatGPT Plus or ChatGPT Pro. Assuming that’s you, you’ll be able to have Sora create videos from essentially nothing right before your very eyes.
Those who pay for ChatGPT Plus will be able to create videos of up to five seconds long and a 720p resolution which means you’re going to want to stump up for the ChatGPT Pro subscription to get the good stuff. That’ll give you support for 1080p video and up to 20 seconds per clip, but there’s a huge catch — the price.
ChatGPT Pro costs $200 per month but at least this plan allows you to run up to five video generations at the same time and download the videos without a watermark.
On a more positive note, the videos can be generated in a variety of different formats designed for specific platforms like social media and more.
Users can generate videos up to 1080p resolution, up to 20 sec long, and in widescreen, vertical or square aspect ratios. You can bring your own assets to extend, remix, and blend, or generate entirely new content from text.
Those who want to take Sora for a spin can do so by heading to the Sora.com website. It’s available to those in the United States as well as “most other countries,” OpenAI says.
