Qualcomm typically releases its flagship mobile chip near the end of the year, in October or November. However, a new report from Digital Chat Station indicates that Qualcomm is looking to launch its flagship Snapdragon 8 series in the first half of 2025.
The flagship chip, the Snapdragon 8 Elite Gen 2, will use TSMC’s N3P 3nm fabrication process, which is more advanced than the 3nm process used in the Snapdragon 8 Elite. The leak also indicates that the GPU will be even more powerful than the current model.
Even though this is a big improvement, MediaTek reportedly uses an N3P fabrication process for its upcoming chipset. The Samsung Foundry is working on a 2nm fabrication process, which should make it a bit better than the competition.
If Qualcomm plans to launch the Snapdragon 8 Elite Gen 2, we may start seeing flagship handsets with this processor way earlier than we’d expect.
