Som Distilleries and Breweries to invest ₹600 crore in Uttar Pradesh greenfield project

Som Distilleries and Breweries Limited (SDBL) has announced its subsidiary, Woodpecker Greenagri Nutrients Private Limited, is setting up a greenfield project in Khimsepur, Uttar Pradesh. The project will include a brewery, distillery, and other manufacturing facilities with an estimated investment of ₹600 crores.

The Uttar Pradesh State Industrial Development Authority (UPSIDA) has allotted a 40-acre land parcel for the project. The company will commence construction soon after receiving regulatory approval from the government of Uttar Pradesh.

The company said that Uttar Pradesh presents a significant opportunity for growth due to its large population, dynamic demographics, and favourable industrial policies.

Commenting on this milestone, J K Arora, Chairman of Som Group, said: “This greenfield project in UP marks a significant step in our expansion strategy. The state’s favourable business environment and immense market potential makes it an ideal location for our new facility. We are committed to delivering high-quality products while contributing to local economic growth and employment generation. SDBL’s shares closed on BSE at ₹111.89, up by 1%.
