SRF shares jump 13.92% on US refrigerant price hikes

Shares of SRF Ltd surged 13.92 per cent to ₹2,678.10 on the BSE at 11.31 am on Thursday, following a report that stated US gas distributors have announced a price increase for refrigerant gases. IGas USA cited supply disruptions for R32 and R125, leading to price hikes of up to 200 per cent.

According to Equirus brokerage, a $1 per kilogram increase in R32 refrigerant would boost SRF’s EBITDA by ₹260 crore, while it would benefit Navin Fluorine’s EBITDA by ₹77 crore.

SRF has a production capacity of 29,000-30,000 tonnes of R32, while Navin Fluorine currently produces close to 4,500 tonnes and plans to expand capacity to 9,000 tonnes by next month. SRF’s production capacity for R125 is close to 7,000 tonnes.

Both R32 and R125 refrigerants are widely used in air conditioning and refrigeration systems due to their heat absorption properties.
