Sunshine and Fog – BionicOldGuy

We had a few more days of sunshine last week so I got in some good rides. Tuesday my group rode around Chesbro and Uvas reservoirs, with an out an back on Casa Loma road thrown in. After Casa Loma there was a long stretch on Uvas road. Flat with some rolling hills and a tailwind- recumbent heaven!

On Wednesday my spare electric assist kit arrived. Last November Swytch had a great “black Friday” sale and I was able to purchase a spare kit which came with two batteries. I was thinking of getting spare batteries anyway, and this didn’t cost much more than the batteries alone would normally cost. Now I have a spare in case my current motor ever gives out, or in the future I could add assist to a different bike if desired. For now I was glad to get the extra batteries which extend my range considerably. I tested this with longer rides on Friday and Saturday, and found that I can now go more than 3 1/2 hours with assist, or more than 50 miles. The sunshine party was over on Saturday’s ride, which was very foggy. Then the rain arrived Yesterday morning, so I cut my ride shorter and finished up on the stationary bike indoors. Rain should be around for the next few days.

At Coyote Ridge Open Space at the top of Malech Road on Saturday. This should be a good panorama of the Santa Cruz Mountians but there was too much fog.
