With the Polavaram Project in Andhra Pradesh getting back on the rails, the Telangana Government has directed the officials of the Irrigation Department to get a report by the Indian Information Technology (IIT-Hyderabad) on the likely impact of the project on Telangana in a month.
Telangana Chief Minister A Revanth Reddy held a meeting with the officials of the department, Irrigation Minister Uttam Kumar Reddy and State Government Advisor (Irrigation Department) Adityanath Das to discuss the likely impact of the Polavaram Project on the State.
He asked them to appoint a special officer for coordination with the IIT Hyderabad team. He also asked them to prepare a comprehensive study on the threat posed to the Bhadrachalam temple by the construction of Polavaram.

“Officials explained to the Chief Minister that Bhadrachalam was submerged when 2.7 million cusecs of flood water came in 2022.
Officials brought to the notice of the Chief Minister the issue of the Godavari Banakacherla project newly undertaken by the Andhra Pradesh Government and informed him that the project, which is being constructed based on flood water, has no permits.
Revanth Reddy directed the officials to inform the AP government’s Chief Secretary about Telangana’s objections, according to a statement by the Chief Minister’s Office.
He asked the officials to write letters to the Godavari River Management Board and the Union Ministry of Jal Shakti if necessary to protect the interests of the State.
