Circana and the Entertainment Software Association of Canada (ESAC) have revealed the best-selling games in Canada in November 2024.
Read on for the full top 10. Note that digital sales for Nintendo Switch games aren’t included.
- Call of Duty: Black Ops 6 (PS4, PS5, Xbox One, Xbox Series X/S, PC)
- NHL 25 (PS5, Xbox Series X/S)
- EA Sports FC 25 (PS4, PS5, Xbox One, Xbox Series X/S, Nintendo Switch, PC)
- Super Mario Party Jamboree (Nintendo Switch)
- Mario & Luigi: Brothership (Nintendo Switch)
- Hogwarts Legacy (PS4, PS5, Xbox One, Xbox Series X/S, Nintendo Switch, PC)
- Astro Bot (PS5)
- Madden NFL 25 (PS5, Xbox Series X/S, PC)
- Dragon Age: The Veilguard (PS5, Xbox Series X/S, PC)
- The Legend of Zelda: Echoes of Wisdom (Nintendo Switch)
Notably, some of these games are Canadian. First and foremost is Call of Duty: Black Ops 6; while primarily developed by California-based Treyarch, the PC version was handled by Quebec City’s Beenox. On top of that, popular sports games NHL 25 and EA Sports FC 25 were both made by EA Vancouver. And finally, Dragon Age: The Veilguard hails from EA-owned BioWare Edmonton.
Outside of the Canadian games, the most notable part of this list is that there was just one new November game on it: Mario & Luigi: Brothership. It was the first Mario & Luigi game in nearly a decade and the last major Switch exclusive of 2024. It should also be noted that Dragon Age: The Veilguard launched on Halloween, so its first full month on the market was also November.
Otherwise, it’s interesting to see PlayStation’s Astro Bot place seventh after not being on the October list at all. Presumably, the strong word of mouth, leading into the platformer’s slew of Game Awards nominations, helped drive sales. Astro Bot also ended up winning the coveted Game of the Year award, so it remains to be seen how that might have further increased sales of the game and moved it up even further on the eventual December list.
For comparison, here were the U.S. best-sellers in November:
- Call of Duty: Black Ops 6
- Madden NFL 25
- EA Sports FC 25
- EA Sports College Football 25 (PS5, Xbox Series X/S, PC)
- Dragon Ball: Sparking! Zero
- Super Mario Party Jamboree
- Mario & Luigi: Brothership
- Sonic X Shadow Generations (PS4, PS5, Xbox One, Xbox Series X/S, Nintendo Switch, PC)
- NBA 2K25 (PS4, PS5, Xbox One, Xbox Series X/S, Nintendo Switch, PC, iOS)
- Dragon Age: The Veilguard
Unsurprisingly, the main difference was NHL being way more popular here while College Football was a much bigger deal over there. It’s also interesting that Astro Bot didn’t even make the top 10 in the U.S. (it was 13th), while it was seventh in Canada. But what’s perhaps most surprising of all is Zelda: Echoes of Wisdom was 10th in Canada but didn’t even crack the top 20 in the U.S., once again demonstrating how much Canadians love Nintendo.
Looking ahead to the eventual December list, that month had very little in the way of big new premium games as usual, outside of Indiana Jones and the Great Circle. Like all other Xbox games, that debuted on Game Pass on day one, which would reduce direct sales. On top of that, Marvel Rivals was another big December launch, although its status as a free-to-play title means it wouldn’t factor into these best-seller lists. Therefore, it will be interesting to see how The Game Awards, as well as end-of-year holiday promotions, might have led to bigger sales for certain games. Circana and ESAC should also have a top 10 best-selling games list for all of 2024 as it did for 2023, so we’ll have more on that once that data comes in.
