The monthly two-wheeler wholesales (dispatches to dealers) saw market leader Hero MotoCorp, and also ‘Pulsar’ maker Baja Auto report decline in sales on yearly basis in December 2024 sales.
Hero MotoCorp reported a decline of more than 22 per cent y-o-y to 2,94,152 units in its domestic sales in December 2024 compared with 3,77,842 units in the same moth previous year.
However, the company reported a growth of 7.5 per cent in its sales in the calendar year 2024 to 59,11,065 (5.9 million) units compared with 54,99,524 (5.5 million) units of two-wheelers in calendar year 2023.
“Growth across multiple segments—from our core offerings, 125cc motorcycle segment and the evolving electric mobility portfolio—has reinforced Hero’s position as the preferred brand for millions of customers across the country. As we look forward to calendar year 2025, we are poised for an exciting journey with key product launches including expansion of EV portfolio, further strengthening of premium portfolio and new scooter models in ICE segment,” Niranjan Gupta, Chief Executive Officer, Hero MotoCorp, said.

TVS Motor Company reported a marginal growth in its domestic sales to 2,15,075 units in December 2024 against 2,14,988 units in December 2023. But the company reported a growth of 79 per cent year-on-year (y-o-y) in its electric vehicle sales to 20,171 units in December as against 11,288 units in December 2023.
Royal Enfield reported a y-o-y growth of 19 per cent to 67,891 units in December 2024 domestic sales compared with 57,291 units in December 2023.
“As 2024 draws to a close, we reflect on a truly remarkable year for us at Royal Enfield. We’ve launched some category-defining motorcycles through the year, and it is encouraging to see the response to our recently launched motorcycles both in India and international markets,” B Govindarajan, Chief Executive Officer, Royal Enfield, said. He added the company was looking forward to sustaining its growth momentum.
Suzuki Motorcycle India (SMIPL) also registered a growth of 14 per cent y-o-y in its domestic sales to 78,834 units in December 2024, compared with 69,025 units during the same month in 2023.
“We have been experiencing consistent year-on-year growth every month and December has been no exception. This reflects the growing preference for our products amongst two-wheelers users and a recognition for the quality of Sales and After Sales experience that our dealerships have been able to provide our customers,” Devashish Handa, Executive Vice President – Sales, Marketing and After Sales, SMIPL, said.
However, Bajaj Auto reported a decline of 19 per cent y-o-y in its domestic sales to 1,28,335 units in December 2024, against 1.58,370 units in December 2023.
