Vetic to expand its network of pet clinics and hospitals

As more corporates venture into providing healthcare for companion animals, Vetic, a network of pet clinics and hospitals, is looking to expand its existing footprint.

With about 40 centres, the fledgling Gurgaon-headquartered network is looking to add another 25 by December 2025, said Vetic founder Gaurav Ajmera. The network was started after his cat Simba suffered an illness, Ajmera said, and he experienced the gaps in veterinary healthcare, as compared to human healthcare. The effort is to provide human-grade healthcare to animals, in terms of predictable outcomes, Ajmera told businessline. The network also supports community animals by providing services at differential pricing, he said, adding that discounts of 20 -30 per cent were given.

The existing network includes seven 24/7 hospitals, and that number too is expected to increase, he said, without giving financial details, but indicating that funds would be raised internally, besides other avenues. Its round-the-clock hospitals are at Delhi, Gurgaon, Noida, Mumbai, and Bengaluru and they include a fully-equipped emergency department capable of handling critical cases, trauma care, and complex medical situations, Vetic said.

Future plans

Ajmera expects the segment to evolve with more services including those focussed on ageing pets, besides pet health insurance – especially since, like human healthcare services, pet healthcare too is expensive.

Almost a year ago, Vetic had to deal with an incident of animal abuse at one of its Mumbai centres. Action has been taken against those involved, Ajmera said, adding that the network has since taken measures including increased training and sensitising of the staff, besides ensuring that the clinics are completely covered with cameras and there were no ‘blind spots’.
