The US Defense Intelligence Agency National Center for Medical Intelligence, America’s first line of defense against medical threats, expressed concern about gain of function research at the Wuhan Lab.

The Biden administration buried it. They were even prohibited from presenting the evidence in meetings, according to an article in the Wall Street Journal.

It was baffling(1) that a lab leak of COVID-19 was dismissed so quickly when everyone knows China’s BSL ratings might as well be made up. Sure, the BSL is real when communist party officials are going to visit, but a researcher had been caught selling research animals to the wet market. China took down their coronavirus database while the World Health Organisation was repeating communist party claims that it couldn’t be spread from human to human, and calling President Trump racist when he said travel from China should be banned.

There is no evidence President Biden ever got that information, perhaps because his staffers never presented it. The Director of National Intelligence issued a statement that individual agencies were never going to be represented and that all inputs were “fairly presented” which means we have to believe that the one thing Occam’s Razor and every politically moderate biologist says should be out in front as a possible origin was dismissed.

Worse, Biden staffers told the two PhDs and the MD who did the genomic analysis and had concern about a possible lab leak that they were “off the reservation” and to stop talking about it.

 
Politicizing COVID-19 was a brilliant tactical move by Democrats. They told Trump he was racist for talking about China, then that he was killing people by not agreeing an entire school year should be canceled, for endorsing a peer-reviewed epidemiology paper, that he was risking lives by rushing COVID-19 vaccines through approval, then won the election and took credit for the vaccines.

But that doesn’t mean this is going away. It also will never get solved. Eventually, forensic biologists will be allowed to look at what data are available, and then the only thing preventing answers from seeing the light will be the Communist party in China. And they are never going to let anyone have that access.

While those of us in the science policy field know how incompetent the career employees at CDC are, they need six weeks to tell us lettuce has E. coli on it and botched the early days of COVID-19 so badly it could have been a Saturday Night Live skit, but that didn’t mean everyone in a career position in government is only there because the private sector won’t hire them. Dr. Anthony Fauci was reviled by Democrats for saying ‘use common sense’ about AIDS, that it was entirely preventable by avoiding unprotected sex with strangers, so that even they agreed with him meant he must be right. Unless he believed that letting Chinese sloppiness while using American money would make America look bad.
