Xbox Cloud Gaming is coming to LG TVs later this year.
The announcement was made during LG’s Monday press conference at the Consumer Electronics Show (CES) in Las Vegas. During the keynote, LG confirmed that “new LG smart TVs” will receive Xbox Cloud Gaming support, although it hasn’t clarified whether this will apply to older models. Xbox’s blog post also simply says “supported LG smart TVs.” In any case, this makes LG the second TV manufacturer to receive Xbox Cloud Gaming support after Samsung.

Included with a $22.99/month Xbox Game Pass Ultimate subscription, Xbox Cloud Gaming allows you to stream hundreds of games from the Game Pass catalogue, as well as select Xbox titles you own. The streaming service is available on a variety of devices, including Xbox consoles, PC, iPad, Mac, Android, iOS and Samsung TVs (2020 models and newer).
Interestingly, the announcement also leans into Microsoft’s controversial “this is an Xbox” ad campaign when referring to LG TVs. Starting in November, Xbox has been promoting its Cloud Gaming service by saying “this is an Xbox” in regards to all kinds of devices, such as laptops, smartphones, the ROG Ally, the Meta Quest 3 VR headset and Amazon’s Fire TV stick.
While the intention is to show that you don’t need an Xbox Series X/S, Xbox One or Windows PC to play Xbox games, it has led some to criticize Microsoft for seemingly continuing to devalue its consoles. In response, Microsoft Gaming CEO Phil Spencer told Rolling Stone that while consoles remain important to the company, that market isn’t growing, leading it to pursue other businesses like cloud. “We love those [console] customers, but in terms of continuing to expand and grow Xbox, it’s about PC, it’s about cloud, and it’s about making our games more available in more places,” he said.
